The Fire and Rescue Department covers the 36 square miles of the City of Emily and contracted municipalities. The department also assists neighboring communities as needed. Please see Volunteer Opportunities to join the Fire and Rescue Department.
Emily Firemen's Relief Association meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Emily Fire Hall.
The Emily Fire and Rescue Department is an all volunteer department. There are currently 30 members.
Firefighters need to be trained and state certified to a minimum requirement of Firefighter I. Many Firefighters choose additional training such as state certifications in First Responder, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Instructor and Fire Officer.
Average response time within the city limits of Emily: 7 minutes.
The Emily Fire and Rescue Department is outfitted with the following equipment and services:
ISO/PPC Rating: 9/10
Engine 1: 1,200 GPM pump, 1,260 gallon water tank
Engine 2: 1,200 GPM pump, 1,260 gallon water tank
Tender 1: 500 GPM, 3,000 gallon water tank
Brush/Grass Rig: Ranger Crew XP 1000 with on board water tank and foam system, side racks with water backpacks, back board for patient transport.
Two deep well, high pressure hydrants (Located on west side of Fire Hall and in southwest side of City Park)
Over 5,000 gallons of water on first arrival
Mutual Aid: neighboring fire departments called into service
Area lakes are used whenever possible for firefighting
